News from nowhere

I was young once, although it seems an awfully long time ago, young and foolish too (I can feel an Andrew Aguecheek moment coming on but for the sake of all I will smother it quickly).

But I am not sure that I would ever have gone cycling in the snow and ice, wearing shorts and no coat.

Pomona on a bicycle (no, I'm only joking)
The General is obviously made of sterner stuff than his mamma (and those of you who know the General will know exactly where to find him in the picture).

The General and a few hearty friends

The snow has been slow to melt here, and as an old countrywoman I know that means more to come - snow lingering on the ground draws more along and the skies certainly have a grey enough air.

Little and large

When the light improves enough for me to take some pretty pictures I will post up my long-postponed giveaway, which is of a stitchy nature. I am sure that you are all overcome with excitement.

I will be thrilled if more snow comes tonight. Start half term a day early, my mum will be here and himself will be home. Bring it on!

The 'overcome with excitement' doggy is very cute!
The snow has stayed here too, not very much but still covered. I hope we don't have too much more before Saturday as I'm really looking forward to going to a one day quilting workshop.

Loving your humor. Cute pets! We've had no snow except 3 sporadic trace accumulations over the past 3 months, which is unusual enough to mention. In fact, this week has been our longest cold snap and we've had to cover early spring growth in the flower beds in hopes they will survive the confusion. Other than a monthly hike with the scouts I try to stay inside and keep the fire stoked.

Ooh, now I don't know, one of your giveaway winner pickings in the snow could be fun... ;o)

The words 'wearing shorts in the snow' are rather horrifying to me! But then I am wearing a scarf and muffattees in the house today! I am looking forward to your stitchy giveaway, but your little caption on the last picture made me LOL for a moment there!

Hi Pomona,

Now they must be hardy kids, wearing shorts out in the snow brrr!
I love your sweet dogs.

Happy weekend

Madness! Mind you saying that, our son goes out in a t shirt - very odd behaviour I think.

More snow is here already! You were right! My tallest little one is hoping for a snow day tomorrow.

That is steely cycling.

Oh. My. Goodness. is all I can muster when looking at that photo.

Snow attracts snow? Ahh, so we will have more to come too then. I, unlike you dear Pomona, am a snow lover. The temperature dropping viciously to -12°C however is not on my list of joy-inducing elements. Today we were at a mere -3° and I felt quite bouncy under the midday sun... but only for five minutes or so.

Ho hum. It's good to be back.

Oh yes - there is undoubtedly more on the way. I am staying indoors although I hate it and already have cabin fever.

Wow!
To quote my Father "thats either really brave or really stupid" Ha!
I think its brave and how strong and healthy they all are!
I love the pics of the doggies, especially the last one...what a face!

Thank you for your kind comment! I'm still bruised but I think the treatment has had an effect and I have 5 more sessions to go so I'm very hopeful!

Your dog is very well trained, when you say sit, it sits (even in snow), when you say stay it stays, when you say look overcome with excitement, it looks very cute and overcome with excitement! lol

If you don't want any more snow just send it my way when it turns up ... I revel in a good snowfall and we haven't had a single flake!

Lots more snow here today too. Not that it ever cleared. No2 has trudged disappointedly to school and I am warming myself up by kneading bread.
Stay warm x

Are they mad those cyclists!?

The thought of riding a bike in those conditions makes me feel quite faint! The General and his friends are made of sterner stuff than me I think:)

I have two intrepid cyclists to whom snow makes no difference. Personally, I shall stick to making warming refreshments for them when they return.

They are all looking ready to go.
