Delectable floral frocks

In a previous post I gave my dear readers a little thrifty hint regarding a most enticing charity shop to be found just across the road from the V&A, and what is more, I also dropped a little hint about a floral frock which was hanging there waiting for me to call in.

So in the spirit of show and tell which suffuses the land of blog, I present this flowery dress in all its rosy beauty.

Note the shoes
I must admit that I hesitated just a little on the point of purchase, for I am not used to paying out amounts that venture into double figures in a charity shop, but the label said LK Bennett and although I thought this was just a shoe shop, I had a vague idea that they certainly aren't at the cheap and cheerful end of the market, thus this charming confection must be a Bargain not to be sniffed at (and subsequent research confirmed this, to my great satisfaction).

It's my best side

And to continue my career as self-styled granny fashionista, you will be very glad to hear that this new addition to my wardrobe of flowery frocks also coordinates beautifully with my granny cardi.

Granny fashionista

And just in case you were concerned that I was hurtling into granny territory at too cracking a rate, I think that I must be regressing into a second childhood. Those dainty little bronze pumps are courtesy of Mini Boden via Princess Bunchy.

Do I really have to face the camera?

Yes, my youngest child is now giving me her hand-me-downs as I shrink with age: or are my offspring just growing very tall?

The frock is also accessorized by a Naughty Dog who is showing promise as a canine model when not herding unwanted strangers off the premises.

(Credit where credit is due: photography and animal handling by Princess Bunchy.)

And just to confirm that my love of floral frocks shows signs of becoming an unhealthy obsession, this impossibly wonderful book has just arrived to feed my flowery fantasies and rose-tinted dreams.

Good night, sweet ladies, good night ...

It's very pretty! At just over 5 feet, I am sure to be receiving hand me downs from my daughters soon. I already get them from my little sister when she shrinks things accidentally!

Great dress, such lovely fresh colours.
I can't help but notice that the granny cardi shoulders are not in the photo. Is that deliberate or is it now to your satisfaction? :)

I had to laugh at you shrinking with age!

Gorgeous dress :)

I'd rather now wear cast off from my boys - however I have one pair of pumps that big son never got on with and then little son nicked my purple converse a while back.

Gorgeous dress. I love some of the dresses around at the moment, but I've always proclaimed that I'm just not a dress person (not sure why!).

That's a beauty. It would be impossible not to be happy while wearing that dress and cardi - I suggest wearing it while on the phone to the bank, although you wouldn't want to sully it. Truly gorgeous.

I love it and well worth the little extra. It's a gorgeous colour - granny......I don't think so.

The cardi looks fab with it too and I certainly think your 'naughty dog' may just have a modelling career - that little look over the shoulder....beautiful.

Lovely summery dress. I have never really been that lucky with clothes in charity shops. Sophie has, she fo9und a bearly worn monsoon top! Just her size, she has good eyesight as it was on the top rung on the display rails. Some of the best charity shops that I have been into and I men several in one street has been the seaside town of Seaford. Excellent for buttons, fabric etc. Off there again hopefully, at the beginning of August for our annual visit

Gorgeous Dress- perfect fit and it is great with the cardigan. My daughter at 15 has bigger feet than me. My shoes and I are very glad!

Oh you lucky lucky thing! I think it is wirht the little extra because, really, look at those roses. I have not been hereabouts much lately - I have been looking after little ones (yesterday I was in charge of five!) and cooking up a little Primavera collection too. How lovely to think that you were once an eager eyed visitor to that lovely shop, as I was.

Great dress, granishonista dressing at its best!

You're lucky with your neat petite feet, I'm afraid as I've got older I now take the same size as my horse. Ah, the joy of velcro!

Oh Wow! that is one gorgeous frock and you look super in it! Just love the yellow roses, and it goes perfectely with the little green cardi.
I too am now entering a new era, wearing cast off shoes from my 16 yr old who now has shoes 1/2 to 1 size larger than me! But alas, unless I can regain the size 8 I used to be a long time ago, I won't be wearing her cast off clothes!
Thank you for your great ideas re:entertaining - shall certainly use the tea light idea, and the food ideas sound yummy!
