Nature of the spring will dream ... |
On Saturday I heard a kind soul (her name was Bernadette, that is all I remember) discussing on Radio 4 Saturday Live how she had resolved to do a random act of kindness every day for a year, and had found it so rewarding that she was continuing her project even after the year of good deeds had ended.
Alone |
And then yesterday I read about a fellow blogger and crafter, Gretel Parker, and how her life has taken a most tragic turn recently.
Helping |
And I have also read about the way in which the good fairies of Blogland have rallied round and are trying to help Gretel.
Companionship |
If you too would like to commit a random act of kindness today and help Gretel, then you can do so here.
... the stillness where our spirits walk |
Or if you would like to buy a ticket in a raffle with the most amazing array of prizes donated by bloggers, then you can find out more here.
Two roads diverged |
And whatever the nature of the blessings you are able to give out today, I hope that you receive them back a hundredfold.

My friend turned 40 in January and celebrated by doing 40 random acts... Like giving out chocolate bars and paying for a lottery ticket. She loved it and had the best time!
Thanks for the links x
A couple of posts ago, I wrote about something quite similar. When did RAK take the place of simply being kind when we can, where we can, to whom we can?
And, in 11/11 Dave, my husband, suddenly dropped dead of a heart attack. I'm in process of writing a book, telling people how to get their affairs in order.
"Death comes to us or it comes for us; it's best to be prepared."
Now, off to visit the blogs you mentioned.
I fell down a complete rabbit hole reading that post and subsequently the last year or so of posts on the blog. Having spent most of my childhood in Shropshire, I felt somehow connected, though lord knows why, although I did have a flatmate that 3 times nearly killed himself, so maybe there was a closer connection than I first realised. Still, I felt it only fair that I contribute from the commission money for the bear I should have been sewing instead of reading that!

I am counting my blessings as I sit here and write this. I hadn't heard this sad sad story. Thankyou for the links to make a contribution. Juliex
Thank you for this post. I did not recognise Gretel's name - but now realise I have seen her Gisela Graham Xmas Dex in the posh shops round here.
I shall be sharing this story on my blog tomorrow. Praying that many people respond and surround Gretel with the love and support she needs right now.
Bless you, Pomona, for alerting us to this one xx
I have known Gretel in blogworld for about 6 years!
Such a very great sadness. I'm very excited since I went in for the raffle and may (fingers crossed) get a lovely prize.
So happy to see you spreading the word for a most worthwhile cause.
Gretel has had so many difficult things in her life and she is such a wonderful artist.
A wonderful post, with beautiful haunting photos.
Thank you for joining in with highlighting Gretel's story.
Blogland is a wonderful place.

I found your blog via Helen Philipps and oh-so-happy I did. Thank you for your lovely post.
Even a smile can make all the difference to someone. I shall go and read Gretel's story.
